MEET AL VIVIAN
Al's Diversity Tip
Al often shares a core lesson from his parents: “Everyone is responsible for contributing to the society in which they live.” This ethos led him to serve eight years in the U.S. Army, where he rose to the rank of Captain. No organization develops leaders better than the Army – and it was there Al learned first-hand the vast difference between management and leadership. Throughout his career, he has seen many well-intentioned leaders struggle to fully engage their people. Not because they lacked talent or drive, but because they lacked the competencies to lead across cultural differences.
For the past 30+ years, Al Vivian has dedicated himself to helping clients – from CNN and Coca-Cola to Delta Air Lines, Ford Motor Company, the National Security Agency, the U.S. Army, and the World Bank – create culturally competent leaders at every level of their organizations. Under his guidance, leaders learn to inspire all employees, not just those similar to themselves.
